The beef project teaches the fundamentals of the beef cattle industry by allowing youth to explore the areas of animal husbandry, livestock selection, health, and care, in addition to the showing of beef cattle at local, county, state, and national cattle shows.

Walker County 4-H has a Beef Club, Commercial Heifer Club and a Scramble Heifer Club.  There are opportunities for members to raise projects to show in the Walker County Fair (steers, commercial heifers and scramble heifers), we well as show at any of the major livestock shows in the state.

This club usually starts meeting in September and will meet once a month until the county fair.
