Pesticide Applicator Recertification Program

$40.00Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Walker County and the WC Soil & Water Conservation District will be hosting a continuing education class for Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators. This C.E.U. recertification class will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Walker County Storm Shelter, next to the HEARTS Veterans Museum on Highway 75 North in Huntsville. Cost for the program is $30.00 without lunch or $40.00 with lunch.
Registration will begin at 7:00 AM and the program will conclude around 3:00 PM. A variety of agricultural topics and speakers are included in this annual educational program. Topics scheduled for the 2017 Pesticide Recertification event include items for all landowners in the Walker County area. Specific items to be discussed during the day include the following topics and speakers:
8:00-9:00 AM Mosquito Vector Control & Reduction of the Zika Threat presented by Dr. Paul Nester, Extension Program Specialist IPM.
9:00-10:00 AM Turfgrass Weed ID, Management & Control Options presented by Dr. Casey Reynolds, Assoc. Professor & State Turfgrass Specialist.
10:00-11:00 AM Dr. Larry Redmon, Assoc. Department Head & Extension Program Leader will present Forage Weed Management & Control.
11:00-12 Noon Dr. Barron Rector will introduce Weed Control: Application, Equipment & Drift Management topics for the applicators.
1:00-2:55 PM Participants will receive a Pesticide Laws & Regulations Update with additional information on Pesticide Safety Issues by Dr. Don Renchie, Extension Program Leader for Agricultural & Environmental Safety.
The program will conclude with the completion of program evaluations, and the C.E.U. Certificate Distribution at approximately 3:00 PM. Participants will be eligible to receive (6 total CEU’s) 1.5 hours Laws & Regulations credit, 2.0 hours Integrated Pest Management credit, 0.5 hours Drift credit, and 2.0 hours General credit.
